SPORTS BETTING WAGER TYPES
Straight Wager Lines
A line is the set of rules used to calculate results and payouts of straight wagers. The four standard line types are listed below.
Point Spreads
A Point Spread bet is placed on one team to win against another, subject to the Point Spread.
The favorite is indicated by the minus sign "-" and the underdog is indicated by the plus sign "+". To determine the winner for betting purposes, the Point Spread is added to the final score of the team you bet on. Point Spread rules are as follows:
* To win your bet, the team you bet on must win by the Point Spread.
* On certain events you can adjust the point spread by buying points.
* Games that tie when taking the point spread into consideration are no action which means your original bet amount will be refunded to your account.
* The odds are $1.10 to win $1.00 (-110) unless otherwise indicated.
Money Lines
Money Lines are the simplest form of sports bets. The team you bet on just has to win the game. Your bet is not subject to a point spread. The amount you may win is determined by the money line. Money Line rules are as follows:
* Money Lines are displayed with a plus "+" or a minus "-" sign.
* Money Lines posted with a minus sign "-" require a bet equal to the amount shown after the minus sign to win $100.
* Money Lines posted with a plus sign "+" require a $100 bet to win the amount shown after the plus sign.
* To win your bet, the team you bet on must win the game.
* Tie games are no action, which means your original bet amount will be refunded to your account.
Totals
Totals are also known as over / under bets. You bet that the actual combined total score of both teams will be over or under the number displayed in your bet. The winning team is irrelevant to this bet. Totals rules are as follows:
* If the actual combined total score of both teams is equal to the number displayed in your Totals bet, the bet is no action; this means your original bet amount will be refunded to your account.
* The odds are $1.10 to win $1.00 (-110) unless otherwise indicated.
* On certain events you can adjust the odds by buying points.
Quarter
Quarter lines allow you to bet on the first, second, third and fourth quarter of basketball and football games. Quarter lines are generally posted at the end of the previous quarter. Quarter betting rules are as follows:
* Quarter bets are calculated the same as straight bets unless otherwise indicated.
* Game must go the full quarter for quarter bet to have action.
Half-time
Half-time lines allow you to bet on the first or second half of basketball and football games. Half-time betting rules are as follows:
* Half-time bets are calculated the same as straight bets unless otherwise indicated.
* Half-time bets must go the full half for action.
* Overtime is included as part of the second half. Buying Points
Buying points allows you to improve the Point Spread or Totals odds of a football or basketball contest by actually buying points for the team you want to wager on.
You can buy points to your advantage on the sports of football and basketball. Points can be bought on the side or on the total. Each half point costs you an additional 10 cents to the dollar. Buying onto or off of the point spread of 3, in football only, costs 20 cents to the dollar (instead of 10 cents).
Parlays
A parlay is a single bet that links together anywhere from 2 to 15 individual plays. The parlay can be comprised of a series of bets on a team, over/under bets, or any mixture of the two. For the parlay to be a winning wager, every one of its individual plays must win. If any of the individual plays is not a winner, then the entire parlay wager loses.
If, however, one of the individual plays is a "push," then the parlay reverts to the next amount of teams. For example, a three play parlay would become a two play parlay; a two play parlay would become a straight bet, with corresponding reductions of the payoff.
Teasers
A teaser can only be played in football and basketball. The teaser is 1 wager consisting of 2 or more propositions in which you are allowed to adjust the point spread in your favor. If there is ANY loss in a teaser, the entire teaser results in a loss!! Otherwise, if the teaser contains a push, no action, or tie, the teaser will revert to the next amount of teams, paying the odds of the new teaser. In the case of a two-team teaser, if there is a push, no action, or tie, the wager will be refunded.
If Wagers
If wagers allow the customer to make a second wager pending a win on the first selection. If wagers must be made on one call, and the second part of the if wager cannot exceed the amount of the first selection.
Example:
Dallas Cowboys -5 $110 to win $100 IF (if win, tie, or cancel) Carolina Panthers +4 $110 to win $100 If the Cowboys lose, the wager stops there and is scored a loser -$110; if the Cowboys win +$100 the wager continues to the Panthers wager; if the Panthers win, the wager is a $200 winner; if the Panthers lose the wager is a $10 loss.
Reverse Wagers
Reverse wagers are always double action IF bets.
Part A
Cowboys -5 $110 to win $100
IF ( win, tie or cancel )
Dolphins -14 $110 to win $100
Part B
Dolphins -14 $110 to win $100
IF ( win, tie, or cancel )
Cowboys -5 $110 to win $100
If both teams win +400
One win, one loss -120
Both teams lose -220
Push +200
